LB#1: Meaning of Educational Technology 1

  • Yesterday was a lovely day in my Ed Tech 1 subject with Mr. Guirit (my professor), for we did a very interacting discussion of finding the meaning of Educational Technology. A lot of my classmates came up with different answers which are then considered not wrong for it's their very own opinion or understanding of the word itself. Mr. Guirit then read some of the meaning from the book which made it a little more clearer of what really the meaning of Educational Technology. But if we stick to the book a lot of these meanings are also an opinion of some great persons who have maybe contributed a great deal in Educational Technology.
  • So our class came up with our definition of Educational Technology which is; finding ways of how to use the technology and applying this in our future classroom settings or instructional media. And using this technology to help students how to learn the said technology.
  • As per my opinion, first thing that comes up in my mind if asked what is the meaning of Educational Technology is of course computers. The advancement of having technology in the classroom is the way forward in this world we are living in. So having the knowledge of how to use this technology will not only make your life easier in teaching but also making you a leader of knowing what is the "IN" thing in the 20th century or for short making you a very able & knowledgeable person in this era we are in. Example on how to use this technology in the educational system is the use of the microsoft office i.e. word, excel, powerpoint. With Microsoft word you can make questionaires for your exams by making a template. With excel you can make you grade recording faster. With powerpoint you can make slides for your presentation of your subject matter. And there's a lot more to explore if you will just take the step one at a time. Remember that this is all a learning process.
